Commemorating the Holocaust
Dr. Albert Bourla, 2022
In honor of his parents, who narrowly escaped death at the 
hands of the Nazis, and of the 48,000 Greek Jews who perished, 
Albert directed the $1 million award towards the construction 
of the Holocaust Museum of Greece. The 2024 groundbreaking, 
attended by presidents of Germany and Greece, took place at 
the Thessaloniki rail station from which Jews were deported to 
Auschwitz-Birkenau. The museum will honor the memory of the 
victims and celebrate the country’s vibrant Jewish history.
